The basis for BabyUniversity began in 1996, out of sheer frustration. Pregnant with our first child and living in a new town, there weren't many friends to ask my questions of. I started surfing the internet for pregnancy information, storing all useful sites in my favorites folder. I continued to do this after our daughter was born, and soon had more bookmarks than I could easily handle. All of these sites had one thing in common ... their primary objective was to list other places to locate pregnancy and baby information. At most, I would find a few articles of interest at any one site. Why couldn't one site actually contain many articles on a broad range of pregnancy and parenting topics?

My father had been working with the internet before I even knew it existed, and had been encouraging me to learn to design websites so that I could join him in the family business, mjrSolutions. I finally decided to give it a shot, and in July of 1998, my first pregnancy and parenting site, Carolina Baby Connection was born!
In the following year and a half, the site grew tremendously, and enjoyed several facelifts. When I became pregnant with our second child in 1999, I decided I was ready for a career change. I enjoyed working on the website more than my "real job", and I could easily maintain it while staying home with our 3 year old daughter and soon to be born son.
Most of my pregnancy was spent searching for the perfect site name, planning the design and deciding which new features to add first. Cody was finally born in March, 2000, and BabyUniversity.com followed on June 1st. Although the name and the design have changed, you'll find the same quality information provided by experts in the childbirth and pediatric fields. There's no corporate financing, publicly traded stocks or Vice-Presidents of whatever department, just a work-at-home mom that wants to share accurate and timely pregnancy and parenting information with other parents. Please enjoy and if you ever have any comments or suggestions, please feel free to drop me a line at

Update - March, 2002
What a difference two years make! Since BabyU was officially launched, we have continued to grow and add new features. In October, 2000, we created our own community which has grown tremendously.
My daughter is now in kindergarten, my son Cody just turned two, and we welcomed the newest addition to our family, Tyler, in December.
With the birth of Tyler, I once again felt the urge to redesign the site and in March, relaunched the new and improved BabyU! I've added tons of new content, several new community driven features, and lots of reasons to keep coming back for more!
BabyU has gained in popularity and has been the source of news articles as well as received mentions and reviews in several recently released parenting books! I'd like to thank all of our the parents that frequent our site, recommend it to our friends, and give me a reason to continue expanding and improving upon the site! I can't wait to see what the next two years hold in store!
