The Floppy Sleep Game Book Print E-mail

Patti Teel has created a revolutionary four-week program to help children ages 3-10 fall asleep on their own-and fall back asleep independently when they awaken during the night. "The Floppy Sleep Song" plus seven guided relaxations help parents customize a bedtime routine to send their child peacefully into a restful and rejuvenating sleep.

THE FLOPPY SLEEP GAME BOOK includes a four-week program which teaches children the self-soothing skills that will enable them to relax and fall asleep.  The two most common children’s sleep problems involve falling asleep, and awakening during the night. Other sleep books give scant attention to the most useful long term solution: teaching children the skills that will enable them to consciously relax their bodies and minds in order to fall asleep.

With the Floppy Sleep Game program, this step towards independence is not a painful process for parents or their children.  Throughout the program, parents gradually and systematically give their child less and less direction as he becomes more capable of relaxing himself to sleep. During week one, parents read the relaxation routine to their child, assisting him with the process. During week two, the parent remains in his child’s room but rather than reading the relaxation instructions, the child follows the directions on the recording.  By week three, the child falls asleep with the recording, without the parent in the room and by week four, he will be falling asleep on his own and will have the choice of doing so with or without the recording.   ‘Relaxation practice’ is an important, yet fun component of the program.  Seven tracks on the CD are devoted to enjoyable relaxation exercises, which the child can do with his parent(s) during his bedtime routine.
