I know that taking them while you're on a birth control pill makes the pill less effective.

But what if you're not on anything?

I know my mom got pregnant with my sister while on antibiotics and birth control. I think that if you can get pregnant while on both, it should be just as easy to get pregnant while on ONLY antibiotics... Good luck!

I just wondered if it affected your system and would make you more susceptible or likely to get pregnant of if it or would alter your cycle just enough that maybe you'd ovulate at a different time or something.

I've been looking and looking, but nothing says anything about antibiotics having an affect on fertility/ovulation. All it talks about is the affect on birth control pills.

Same here. I think it was just a coincidence.

I think it was a coincidence but yes, all three times. With Zach I had pnuemonia and was taking a really strong antibiotic. I knew I was going to ovulate while on it so I asked my doc and just to be safe they switched me to a more "acceptable" antibiotic to finish the treatment. With the other two I was taking them right before I got pregnant (earlier in my cycle).

Come to think of it.. which I've never thought about before is the fact that I was on Minocycline when I got pregnant with Dylan! I was taking the MInocycline twice daily for my acne and I got pregnant with him like my 3rd or 4th month into it.

I know that Antibiotics can cause less effectivness in birth control, and normally dentists will tell you that, but my Dermatologist never said anything about it. Hmmm..
