I've got the protein thing going. I start every day with a hard boiled egg & a glass of milk to get my metabolism going and am eating fish at least once a week if not twice.
I look for higher protein snack options but still don't think I'm getting quite as much as I need to. I really feel like it is benefitting my diet though.

I HAD been doing really good with the water drinking but starting a little over a week ago I started back up on the diet sodas which I know aren't bad in themselves but they are replacing water I would be drinking.

The 6 meals a day thing I have down perfect.

Training with weights I haven't started yet although I did pick them up twice last week and play around with them.

LOL Elaine -- that's a good start with the dumb bells Here's a good routine to get started with ... http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/mraz4.htm You should do the beginner one for about two weeks, then move up to the intermediate. The nice thing is it's circuit training, which means you basically get your cardio AND strength training at the same time. For you, I'd probably start out with 5 pound dumb bells -- if that is too easy, your next step would be 8 pounders.

Good job on getting the 6 meals down! That was the hardest part for me ... but now, I KNOW when it's time to eat! My body is so used to it. I still have a hard time getting that last meal in, but it's not so bad on nights I stay up later.

It has only been hard for me on nights when I eat too much just because I like what we are having. It is usually something healthy and well within my allowed portion but I finish things only because they are good even if it makes me uncomfortable.
But being a reg. coffee drinker at 8:00 at night has made sticking a small meal at the same time easier. Of course, there are times when I call a "meal" having a low fat cheese stick and a glass of orange juice if it is all I can get down.

Oh definitely ... usually at least one of my "meals" is 1/2 carton of Yoplait Light and 1/2 cup of cottage cheese. LOL

If you're eating healthy, there probably isn't much that would be considered "too much". You can pretty much eat all the grilled chicken, salad, and veggies (non-starchy) as you want. Sounds to me like you're doing awesome! Have you measured lately?

No, and I'm not going to measure or weigh all week. I know that AF is on the way and I don't want to be discouraged if the scale goes up a lb or two this week. I'm going to wait until next Monday to weigh again and then I'll probably measure again just to establish where I am.
I'm at 141 first thing in the morning right now.

Dawn love the tips here and I marked the dumbell workout. I need to get rid of the flab on my arms.
6 meals a day that seems a lot. Do you still have the biggest meals a day at breakfast, lunch and dinner? then the rest a little something here and there?

Thanks Dawn for the dumb bell link.

What do usually eat for 6 meals? When I think of a meal...I think of a big meal.

Hello,

I was bit fat earlier and I tried some these 4 tips to loose my weight and here they are.

Are you trying to lose weight fast? The 5 tips that follow will help you. Keep in mind, however, that if you want to lose weight and keep it off that you have to change your lifestyle. That means following these tips consistently. It can be difficult to change life-long habits. Starting out is usually the hardest part. Once you develop healthier patterns, they too can become habits!

1. Eat Healthier Fats -the latest research shows that it’s not so much fat itself that is the problem when it comes to health and weight loss, but the kind of fat. In general, it’s a good idea to avoid trans fats, which are found in many junk foods, margarine, partially hydrogenated vegetable oils and commercial sweets such as cakes, cookies and donuts (you can find healthier, organic versions of these products).

Saturated fats, which are found in animal products are fine to eat in small quantities, especially if they are natural or organic.

Monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats that are now called “healthy fats” contain essential fatty acids, especially Omega-3. These are found in almonds and other nuts, avocados, coconut and olive oils and flaxseed oil.

So, as a rule, it’s best to avoid trans fats as much as possible, consume limited amounts of saturated fats (note -some people still label saturated fats as “bad fats” but there is compelling research that shows that many cultures have consumed animal products for centuries with virtually no obesity or degenerative diseases -see Weston Price Foundation for more information; the problem today is that most animal products are from factory farms, which use many questionable additives), and large amounts of healthy fats.

2. Exercise Intelligently -the problem many people have with exercise is that they start out very enthusiastically and then, when that initial burst of energy wears out, they quit. If this is your tendency, you should remember that the real key to a successful exericse program is consistency. It’s far better, for example, to walk for forty-five minutes every day and stick with it than to be a “weekend warrior” and do stenuous exercise inconsistently. Don’t try to do too much, but make sure you get regular exercise at least three times per week.

3. Pay Attention to What You Drink -beverage consumption can be at least as important as food when it comes to your weight. The best thing to drink is pure water. After that, stick to pure juices (in moderation; many juices like apple are healthy, but contain lots of sugar; even natural sugar can be fattening in large quantities), green tea, which has antioxidants that may help with weight loss, and herbal teas.

Avoid soda as much as possible, even diet sodas –most artificial sweeteners have potential health risks. One glass of wine or beer every day is fine for most people and may actually have health benefits. Beyond this, however, alcohol can be fattening and of course can contribute to other health problems.

4. Get Some Sleep! -while we all know that you need exercise to lose weight, oddly enough, sleep can also help. Recent research has shown a correlation between sleep deprivation and obesity. Apparently lack of sleep causes an imbalance in the body which inhibits the burning of fat. So if you have sleeping problems, you should address this. Regular exercise can help with this. Avoid caffeine or stimulants beyond the mid-afternoon. Certain herbal teas, such as chamomile and skullcap can also help with sleep.

Thank you!!

I believe that regular exercise and a balanced diet is important. They are really good for your health during our entire life.I think that a multi-pronged approach is the correct way to proceed, the most important diet and exercise. Home massage device, a massage with essential oils infrared and slightly decontrolled News is my routine now. It is a long and slow process, when the already terrifying stuff.

These are all great tips for leading a healthy lifestyle! The most rewarding part of this all is the energy you find you have from the nutritous foods and exercise! Eating 6 meals a day is crucial to a healthy diet - starting with the most important meal: breakfast. Breakfast jump starts your metabolism for the day, so it is important to eat within an hour from when you wake. There are numerous healthy and delicious breakfast options - egg whites with vegetables and a whole wheat english muffin, greek yogurt with organic granola, flaxseed waffles, or oatmeal and fruit, to list a few. There are so many varieties and healthy alternatives to your favorite foods, so don't feel like healthy eating is synonomous with tasteless eating. Do your research. Find healthy recipes and smart options. Read the labels when you are shopping and buy the product with less calories, fat and sugar, even if it is just a slight difference!

I started adding more greens (spinach, kale, etc) and chia seeds to my diet. Both are full of fiber, and from what I've been reading help one lose unwanted body fat. I'll let you know how it works for me.

The real reason people aren't losing weight is because they overthink it and read too much into it while over-complicating things.

A calorie in / Calorie out doesn't work (for the most part). All calories are not created equal. Nor is constantly reducing calories because this triggers the stress/cortisol effect which will actually spike your weight.

The secret to losing weight is just this: Insulin control, that's it. Insulin is your Anabolic Hormone meaning storing and building. When it's active in your body, you cannot burn fat (or anything for that matter). If your eating constantly throughout the day, your insulin is constantly secreted, and your not burning fat. If your eating foods with a high insulogenic effect like sugar, whole grains, and milk, your not going to burn fat.

The trick is to sum this up in as little words as possible, is do intermittent fasting (16-20hr fasts work best) while maintaining the same calorie level. Intermittent fasting is not calorie restriction, your just condensing your calories in a smaller window. Then eat foods that don't have a large insulin impact like meats, fish, vegetables, nuts, and seeds. Make water, tea, and coffee your drinks and nothing else.

Calorie wise, it varies from person to person, but figure it being somewhere between 1500-2100 calories per day. That's all people have to do, that's it.

Best,
Lucy from http://www.writemyessayfast.org/essay-writers.php ..
