Persistant Swollen Glands

My 2 yo seems to have swollen neck glands ALL the time. 2 weeks ago they were the size of small eggs, i kid you not. My dr was unavail. to see him so they suggested i take him to an urgent care or ER, which i did. They took a quick peek at him and said he had some sort of throat infection and didn't bother testing him, not even checking his ears.....he only had a slight fever, so they gave him zythromax and said that should clear up whatever is going on.

Today, the same one (on his right side) is still pretty big, sticking out from his neck, he has NO fever, and nothing but a runny nose.

What could the persistance of swollen glands mean in such a little guy? Should I go to my dr and insist they run bloodwork or something? I don't want to be that fanatical parent but at the same time I don't want to ignore it if there is something wrong.

Thanks in advance for your help.
