I have been having lower back pain right under my tailbone for the last two days. I was feeling around today, and there is a big bump right under my tailbone. (yes, in my crack ) It really hurts when I am sitting. Almost like I am sitting with a rock right under my tailbone. I have been sitting on a boppy pillow when I have to sit up. It also is a dull pain/bruised feeling when I am up and walking around.
Do you think this could be a cyst? Is there a possibility this could be something else? I plan on going to the doc on Tues to get checked. What should I expect?
I had that same type of cyst, but I can't spell the name of it, sorry.
I had multiple surgery's to remove it, but that is only because mine was stubborn. My Dad had the same thing and it only took one surgery to remove his.

Yep, it could be a cyst. The MD will examine you & it will depend on what he/she thinks it is for the course of action.
I had a roommate in college that had a "pseudocyst" at the end of her tailbone. She went to the hospital & had to come back the next day to have it removed... come to find out it wasn't a cyst at all, it was a collection of hair in the form of a ball, at the end of her tailbone! I have NO IDEA how that happened! But that's what the MD said!

Heather, were yours and your father's in the same place as mine?
I have had one removed from my upper arm, one aspired from my right breast, and one pressure treated? on my right wrist. That's what's making me think cyst. Hopefully they can just remove it and send me about my merry way.
Liz, I hope your feels better soon. A tail!! You are too funny!
I hope it is nothing serious.

How are things going for you now? Did they end up removing the cyst?
I know... that pseudocyst thing... how FREAKY! I just had to relay that story.... it's actually kinda funny 10+ years later!

Can't believe I didn't post how the appt went. OK, he said he didn't know what it was, said it was either a cyst or a bone spur. I had to go for xrays. This was Tues of last week. He told me he would call me back in a couple of days. It has been a week and a half. I think I need to call back on Monday. Ahhhhhhh, the joys of military hospitals. Understaffed and Overworked!
You know, the knot has gotten smaller, but my back has been hurting ever since then. Like I told DH.....either that little knot is making my back hurt (which by this point I don't think is the case), or something is making my back hurt that caused that little knot!
Anyways, thanks for checking in with me. I will let you know what he says about the xrays.
