Antibiotic use?

Hi Kim,
I was wondering about antibiotics.. will they become less effective the longer you take them?

Here's why I ask, and maybe it'll make more sense. Kyle has a sinus infection and he's on Cefaxil (??) tabs 2x/daily. However, I keep forgetting to give him his evening dose--he gets his AM dose just fine.

Will the antibiotics be less effective? I know he has to finish the bottle.. but if it takes too long, will they still work?

Thanks!
Amy

Although it would be better to get his doses twice a day, the meds should still work. The key is to finish the entire prescription. (Many people stop meds as soon as they feel better, which allows remaining pathogens to rebuild when meds are stopped.)

Good luck! I hope Kyle is feeling better soon!

He is feeling better, but I feel bad because he should have finished them already.
