Question Lump under my heel ???

Hoping you all can help me with this one !!

Since I started working my feet and ankles have been swollen and sore - not uncomfortable but sore as in it hurts like H E double hockey sticks to put any weight on my feet - my right foot is the worst, it feels like I have a lump under the skin of my heel, just where it joins the instep. Des reckons he can feel a lump but I can't.

Resting them doesn't really help much as they stiffen up and I can barely walk, however after hobbling around for a while it does ease up a little, at least my feet can bend at the ankles again LOL.

When I try to rest I get the most intense pains in my feet, ankles and lately lower calfs. It is not an all over ache and I think it feels like the nerves are being eloctrocuted (it is such fun ) it gets bad enough to wake me from a sound sleep.

I bought new shoes recently, hikers boots in real leather with padded tops around the ankles, padded soles - heck even the 'tongue' is padded. These are darn good quality and I thought the $100 was worth it if it stopped my feet from killing me but no such luck.

I have been wearing my old comfortable sneakers the last 2 days and while the aching is not so bad the 'heel' pain is still very intense and I am getting sick of hobbling around

I personally feel it is probably just I'm taking a lot longer t get used to working than I had planned, then again I have just finished my 8th straight shift with 2 more to go b4 I have a day off.

Course Des likes t think it is a symptom that something is wrong with my diabetes, talk about a worry wort LOL

It sounds like plantar fasciatis (sp). Ed has it. He is on his feet at work for 8+ hours a day, concrete floor, work boots ect. When he gets up in the am he can barely stand. The dr said the ligaments shrink. I would go see you Dr if possible. I also bill for a physical therapist and see it all the time. There are a few options like phys therapy, splints for while you are sleeping (notice I didn;t say at night ), heel cups ect. The thing that hurst the worst but worked the best for Ed were injections to the site of pain.

Hope you are feeling better soon!

Yep, I agree with Becky, sounds like plantar fascitis. I would see your MD & have him check it out, so you can get physical therapy or other treatments to relieve your pain!

I was going to suggest going to a podiatrist too. Can you get some heel pads at an atheletic footware store or Walmart? Those might help a little until you can see a doctor.
