When is a good time for a jolly jumper?

Hello my son is 3 months old and I was wondering when a good time for a jolly jumper might be. I am very new at this so any suggestions would be extremely helpful.

I think it completely depends on the child. Liz was about 3 or 4 months when we first put her in one....my one friend never did, her son hated it...and i have antoher friend who's 5 month old is always wanting to stand and bounce, so he loves his jolly jumper

It's probably time to try if you want to. He may have trouble holding himself up (both of mine did) so we just stuffed some towels around him to help support him. Both of my boys loved their jumpers and if they weren't so darned porky, would have stayed in them forever!

Good luck!

Ideally they have to be able to hold their heads up by themselves. If they can pretty much sit up and hold their head up, then it's alright to put them in one. Check the instructions, but it should tell you that. Ally adored hers. We finally had to take her out of it because she would get it going so much she starting banging into the computer desk and the speakers!

Jonathan just turned 5 months, and he's been in his a couple of times. The first time was when he was about 3 months old. I think he thought it was a swing, because he just picked his feet up. He wouldn't bounce. I tried him in it again last week, and he wants to keep one foot on the ground, like he's scared. So, I'm not sure what's up with that... But I think usually 3-4 months is a good age if they're pretty active.

Sydney was 3 months old when she first started going in hers. She didn't spend too much time in it, because her head wasn't that sturdy yet, but the more we put her in there, even just for a few minutes at a time, helped her with her balance. We would just sit right in front of her and help her out for the first little while.
Now, she's 5 1/2 months and she loves it. She's just starting to learn that it's her bouncing, so she's always just a goin'.

We never had one, although I would have loved to use one. Maddie is too big now for one.. The houses we lived in at the time didn't have a place where you could hang it properly! But I would agree when they can hold their heads up well and maybe can sit with support also?????

Well today I put David in the jolly jumper again and this time he seemed to enjoy it alot more. I'm finding that the best time to try it on him is just after he has had his nap and a feeding which is great because he has so much energy, again thank you ladies for all the helpful advice.
