How do I know when to get a Big girl bed?
 

How do I know when it is time to get a big girl bed? Dona is only 14 months old. She still moves around a lot at night. We have a big bed for her, it was her grandmothers. Is it ok to set the big bed up in her room and leave her baby bed up for a little while longer? Any suggestions?

Well, we put Sydney is a "big girl" bed at 14 months too. Not because we were in a big hurry, she wasn't crawling out of the crib or anything, but because we are having another baby in the fall, that will need that crib eventually, and we wanted to make the transition easier for Sydney by letting her have lots of time.

So rather than go out and buy a toddler bed right away, I just because creative and unscrewed the front railing of the crib and took it right off. (No, it's not one of those cribs that coverts, I just made it that way). And I bought one of those side rails that fits under the mattress, because Sydney still moves around at night, sleeps sideways and whatnot. She can now get in and out of bed on her own and in fact, in the last couple of weeks, she has actually started just going back to bed all by herself, after waking up in the middle of the night. :yipee:

seriously jaydean has only just gone n her own "big girls bed" in the past year she seemed to be terrified of a big bed so we didnt push her into it bu now shes great and even looks forward to going to bed!

:huh: we are looking around for rhyne a big girl bed, but she still isnt' trying to climb outta her crib and seems to like it. she's 22 months, I hope to have her one once she's 2 1/2

We put Elizabeth in the big bed at 12 months. She wouldn't sleep in her crib sooo...We got a full size bed mattress and box springs and put it on the floor and put pillows around the mattress for just in case she fell off it wouldn't hurt her as bad as falling from a bed on rails.

She can get up and down on her bed easy and sometimes she goes in there and just sits on her bed.

I didn't want to get a toddler bed because I wanted her to have a lot of room and plus sometimes I sleep with her.

I put my oldest son in a big bed when he was one because he hated his crib. I am getting ready to put my second son in a big bed (he is 13 1/2 months old) because I have another baby coming in 6 weeks that will be in the crib.
