I recently went to a birthday party of an one year old. I thought it was a bit extreme being that she was so young. She had everything a petting zoo, space walk, face painting, corndog stand, clown and everything. It doesn't sound like bad idea for older children to me but she is just a baby she really didn't understand what was going on! Please all opinions are welcomed
I think that is a bit much too. I mean all we are doing is having some friends and family, and our friends kids over.....and they are going to play amongst themselves with Liz's toys....the kids all range in age...and we are having hamburgers and hotdogs.......that's it

I say to each their own, but I wouldn't have gone that far for a first birthday. For their first few, I think it is more for the parents!! The thrill of seeing a smile on their child's face, more than it is for the child to remember that day.
We didn't have any friends with kids for Ethan's birthday, so we got him a cake, invited all of our friends, and bought steak and beer and celebrated making it through our first year of being parents!
A friend of mine's little girl turned one last August. She invited my monsters, among a few other family and another baby friend (Z was also about 1 yrs old). Mary rented a ball pit for everyone (tho it said kids only!) and a blow-up pirate ship pool. The older kids that could swim were able to go down to the lake.
