Being born in July, my daughter's birthday falls in the heat of the summer. Here in the South, that means 95+ degree days and 100% humidity. Not fun for a bunch of 5 year olds!
I didn't really want a bunch of kids running around my house -- I wasn't really sure how to occupy them, so I came up with what turned out to be a great birthday party idea!
I told everyone to bring swimsuits, sunblock and towels -- then we had a Water Party!
We did the cake and presents first thing, and one of the first presents she opened was a Slip 'N Slide. We filled up a small pool with water, set up the Slip 'N Slide, and once they were done indoors, we let them loose!
They had an absolute ball! Unfortunately, the Slip 'N Slide didn't hold up too well -- although I definitely got my money's worth out of the cheapest version (under $10) and it lasted through the party.
When they finally wore themselves out, we set up a pinata and let them have it. A word of caution -- pinatas are very strong these days. It took about 20 minutes for these kids to finally break it open.
I'd say the party was a great success. Jessi was thrilled, her friends had a blast, and clean up was relatively easy. For the younger crowd, I'd recommend one of those wacky sprinklers instead of the Slip 'N Slide. I'm sure that would be plenty for them, although Cody loved the slide!
My brother and I had a slip N slide when we were little and about 2 or 3 years ago my dad gave it away. We used it all the time too! Maybe they were made of stronger stuff 10 or so years ago....wouldn't surprise me any.
I am glad Jessi had a great party and that they were out of your house and outside!!!!
Darn it! Nobody took a chinchilla home! I've got TONS of them ladies if anyone wants one! LOL Don't Austin and Christian need one for their birthdays from "aunt Dawn"? LOL
