took a blood test

Ok...I took a blood test and it was negative too... I am five days late and still no symptoms of my period....and I am NEVER late...i don't think I have been late like this w/ no PMS symptoms since my daughter was born. Can it be a false negative because my hormone levels are low....or do i just need to accept that there is something wrong w/ me?

Re: took a blood test

If your period is just late and you are not pregnant, it doesn't mean that there's anything wrong with you. Our bodies change over time, and maybe yours is just changing. Before I had Emily, my periods were every other month. Then after I had her, they were regular for the first time in my life and that lasted for a couple of years. Now that I have had Travis, my periods go through regular phases for a few months or a year at a time, and sometimes they come every three weeks and sometimes they come every five or six weeks.

Re: took a blood test

In the US, blood tests are taken automatically when you go to the dr for pregnancy. It is not optional. Even if you've had a hundred positive home tests, they will still do a blood test at the dr's office to determine your hormone levels which helps your dr figure out how far along you are. You can also request a blood test if you think you might be pregnant, but are getting a negative on home tests or it is too early for your hormones to register on a home test.
