How do you know when ?

to move your kiddo into a "real" bed ?

Jared is still using his crib - honestly, I think its more for DH and I's sanity. While I'd love to have more space in his room, I'm just not ready for him to be able to get up and roam @ night. Can't use baby gate, he knows how to undo that.

Hmm.. Austin was 2 when we got him his big boy bed. We didn't have ANY trouble with him getting up in the night at all. Even when he was sick.. he's just lay there and cry.. and throw up on the floor

I think it was just something we did. It was just a spur of the moment decision. Ya know? We bought it.. and for about a week or so after we got it we still kept his crib up incase he just didn't feel comforable.. he could just get in it..

It's up to you if you think he's ready or not! Austin LOVED his big boy bed! (He loved his big BIG boy bed now too)

Good Luck! We need pics if he gets a big boy bed! LOL They're sooo cute! They get so proud that they don't have a baby bed anymore!!!

Alisha was easy, she started standing and then we lowered the crib that did not help she starting using her bumper pads take that out and she used her blanket. I was afraid she fall trying to get out. Bed time. That is how I knew.

I am not positive exactly what made me switch Lexi to her toddler bed but I did so when she was a year. Part of it was probably b/c she was climbing the rails but I think another part was that she wasn't sleeping as well in her crib anymore. Jamie and I were getting ready to get married so we just set up her toddler bed in our place and went from there. Didn't have much problem with her getting up and wandering but she was in our room since we only had a one bedroom apartment.

Zach loved his crib and when he was about 2 we took the front rail off of it so he could crawl in and out by himself. Right before he turned 3 we had some money to buy new furniture for the kids and instead of wasting money on a toddler bed we bought a twin for him and he has slept in it ever since. He gets up all the time even still though and goes to sleep on the couch. Doesn't bother me too much now since he is older and the house is locked up.

With both of my kids I converted their crib to the toddler bed right at a year. They were climbing out and it wasn't safe. We've never had a problem with them getting up at night. In fact once they were out of the crib they seemed to sleep a lot better.

Elizabeth was 1 when we put her in her big girl bed. But we put the mattress and box springs on the floor so if she did fall off...it wouldn't hurt her. Also we put pillows around the bed on the floor. The reason we put her in the bed at 1 was because she wasn't sleeping in her crib. When she was about 10 months old...everytime I would lay her in the crib asleep...she would wake up.

Sometimes she would get up and come to me in my room, but she never went roaming thru the house.
