picky eater

Emily won't try anything new, I try to slip in a spoonfull every now and then and she winds up refusing to eat all together. Tongiht I tried lasagna (stage 3), hated it, then i tried her favorite, wanted nothing to do with it (she is getting her two front teeth and is cranky anyway)

But here is the question - is emily going to have problems down the road if she just keeps eating the same things over and over and over again now??? she only likes the following:
oatmeal w.bananas, peas, greanbeans, corn & sweet pototo, garden vegtables apricots, bananas w/orange, banana's w/ pear, applesause, pears, prunes... loves french fries and those arrowroot cookies (this may sound like alot, but i am worried that it isn't)... I just can't get her to try aything new... Please help. Also she is showing no interest in cups/bottles, spoons.. she eats cookies and french fries by herself... is this gonna cause problems too?

AGGGHHHHH

That's pretty normal for her age. All I can suggest is just to keep trying - sometimes you have to try them 5-6 times( or more) before they will accept any new foods.

i remember reading somewhere, that infants are not like us.. they don't care about variety.. i know i fed logan peas and carrots forever because he loved them both he had them every night, there was variety in everything else..he still eats pretty much everything

now he just doesn't want to sit in his highchair for it

Devin has been pretty picky himself. He would rather have fruit and veggies then any spagetti jars or meats. Even with him starting to self fed he is picky. I think it is probably just a normal thing. Some babies are picky, some eat anything (LEXI!!!)!

Olivia was the same way to an extent. Now she eats almost anything I put in front of her. I don't think Emily's pickiness is a reflection on her future eating habits. Just keep on introducing new things. Sometimes it takes quite awhile before a child will eat something new.

So she'd be 9 months old?? You know, she might be ready to try bite-sized table food??

Livia hated baby food, all kinds. She used to sit there and shake her head as fast as she could. We started feeding her what we were eating and she liked that much better. Mind you, she still would rather throw it all on the floor, but at least she'll eat what we give her.

Rhyne was that way too, she only wanted the veggies and fruit and no meats. I think that is enough variety. Just keep trying a little bit at a time.
