I do alot with my MIL, but then she responds all big and bad telling me what I should do and it sort of goes in one ear out the other.

Yes, with my MIL a couple of weeks ago. However, I think it was Steve she should have talked to. The conversation would have done him a lot of good. However, I think since I was not involved in the topic, maybe it was easier to talk to me.

I have also with my MIL and it use to go in one ear and out the other. Now I am a little better with things. I try my best to understand her, so now it just depends what the topic is.

Only twice. (You have to remember we're not on speaking terms) Once his dad cornered me coming out of the bathroom at a restaurant and wanted to discuss what horrible people Billy and I are (esp. me ) and the 2nd time is when I had to go to their house to tell them Billy had cancer.
