Ab excerises after c-section?

When did you start trying to tone your abs after you c-section? I waited about 15 months. I was afraid the scar might rip back open if I didn't wait quite awhile.

I think I waited several months before doing any myself. Like you, I was paranoid about the incision not being healed 100%.

Ummm 2 1/2 years .. think that was long enough???

I think ab excerises are particularily unpleasant, but my ab is flab. I mean really flabby.

Mine's not flab yet ... it's still a 'pouch'. Heck, if I squeeze my gut together, it looks like I have another butt!

I waited 3 months before I started back up....i just took it easy and didn't do a whole bunch....with Liz though I think I waited 2 years

How long has it been since you delivered? You should be able to start light exercising right after the anesthesia wears off although I know I would be paranoid about the incision splitting open too.

You'll want to:

-Progress at your own rate. Gentle exercises are important in order to facilitate healing of the muscles.
-For the first two or three days, support your incision with your hands or a pillow for comfort.
-Relax and breathe deeply throughout and between the exercises, exhaling on the effort. Do NOT hold your breath.
-Support your head and shoulders with a pillow for comfort.
-Start by doing each exercise twice.

Abs after C-section

I've waited a year to try and get back into shape...Was that too long? I'm interested in ex. to help flatten my abs. Any suggestions greatly appreciated!
