has such a sore bum Even the diaper cream that I normally use is not helping much. He was fine this morning....but by teh second diaper change he was getting red...by the 4th diaper change (3 of which were poopy) he was SUPER RED and even bleeding in one spot....the next time I changed his bum......he was even redder...screamed if i use a wipe on him and was bleeding in more spots

I think that this is all ebcause he is teething again...but i was hoping he was not going to get a bum like this from teethign

Our next step is to try corn starch

that sounds like Logan when he is teething.. i feel so bad for them cuz it hurts so much to change and clean them up.

corn starch and just a bare ol bum as much as is safe...

and although the bath hurts, it sure helps clean him up without wiping

sorry, we just finished going through this

I think that is what weare going to use the next couple of days (except when i am on the bus and don't have much of a choice....but tomorrow i am gonig to roll up the area rug in the living room and let him go bare bum for a bit....and just use wet paper towel on him. I feel so bad for him...althoughI think the diaper cream is finally helping...he didn't bleed when I changed him last

If he is bleeding, you should be using an anti bacterial cream like bacterin (sp?). Jonas got Roto Virus last year and had bleeding. The doctor perscribed it because she said his bum could get infected.

I hope he is doing better soon!

Poor guy! I hope it clears up soon.
i bet that even a few hours bare bum will help him out!

i hope so anyhow!

The poor thing.
I hope he is better today. Sarah always got those nasty diaper rashes too.
I think some babies are just more prone to getting them. Sarah still gets a bit of a rash now and then too.

Jerry changed his diaper this morning, and said that its starting to look a bit better. Its not bleeding anymore...Thank GOodness. I will see how it is on TUesday. If its still bad then I will take him in....why do these sorts of things always happen on a long weekend when all dr's offices are closed?
I'm glad it has cleared up a bit.
Poor Nicholas. Can you get some perscription diaper rash cream for him? They offered it to me for Kate, but hers was never that bad. Is he better today?
Here's another idea and it's a little weird, so bare with me. Do you have any cream for feminine itching? I used a little on Kate once and it cleared the itching and irration right up. It's not a perfect solution, but it might work until the dr's offices are open again.

Poor little guy.

My dr suggested this for Kyler one time and it worked wonders!!!!
He told me to take 50% destin cream and 50% cortizone cream and mix it in my hand... then apply it to the diaper rash.

It worked great. Kylers rash cleared up within 2 days. And it was a bad rash. It was just on the verge of bleeding.

Good luck!!

How cold is it up there during the day, Michele? Can he go diaperless at all?

i just turned the heat up in here this am (to get the chill out of the house) and he is bare bum now.

We tried letting him go bare bum yesterday but he screamed the whole time...I think having his poor little testicles rubbing against the carpet when he crawled (remember he only army crawls) hurt him too much

He is not as red this am...but he has not had a poopy bum yet either....yesterday he had6 runny poopy diapers My poor little guy

rhyne's bum does that too, but she doesn't even have to be teething for it to happen.
Is it only when he poops MIchele? Sounds like he's got a lot of acid in his belly. Have you tried the BRAT diet to see if that helps?

that would work if he liked bananas (hates it).....won't eat rice cereal anymore...chokes on real rice.....hates apples andI forget what T is
post #25 of 28
Toast, I think. Does he like apples? They are on the list for kids with GERD.
i hate when that happens. Poor little guy. We tried this Rash Mist stuff form Petkin. It is in a little spray bottle and you spray it on their bottom. That way you're not hurting them any worse by rubbing, etc. And it has actually done wonders for Jonathan. None of the diaper creams we'd tried really did too much for him and he screamed all the time. I hope he is doign better!

NOpe Lenora he HATES fruit!!! wont' eat any of it....how many kids do you know won;t go near fruit

His poor bum is still red and bleeding. I think I amg oign to take him to the walk in clinic when I am done work

We ended up using Vagisil on Ally, a feminine cream. Believe it or not, it was the only thing that worked. And she still sometimes gets a little red from having a pullup on overnight and it clears it right up. Her pediatrician recommended it. But hers never got so bad it was bleeding. I would take him in, too. I would be worried about an infection if he has an open sore in that area.

Poor little guy!
