How long....?

How long is home made baby food good for???

With all the apples we picked on Saturday, i've made Dylan some fresh applesauce and fresh apple prune sauce.

How long is it good for though? I've NEVER made baby food before!

It was a LOT easier than I thought it would be!

Although I'm probably doing it wrong by boiling the apples, but I'd rather boil them because I've got some weird phobia about any kind of bacteria or chemical! LOL

Since I AM boiling them I know that they can loose some nutrients, so to 'thin' the baby food down, I'm using the same water I boiled them in!

Is this ok, or am I doing it TOTALLY wrong???

From what I've heard you're supposede to cook the apples before you can make the actual applesauce...if you didn't want to boil them though, you could prolly just peel and dice them, then cook them that way in a little butter or something, or water I guess so they don't leave that yucky feeling in your mouth
I'd say it should be good for a few days...and you know, if you have the room, you could freeze some in ice cubes, pop them out and defrost! They'll last much longer that way!

I am not sure how long it lasts, but when I would make Jen's food, I would always freeze about a weeks worth and defrost as needed. The best freezing method I found was to spoon the food into an ice cube tray. Once frozen dump it into a ziploc bag and label the food and date. I loved making her food. Saves a ton of $$ too!
