Bad habit

Well, I have gotten into a really bad habit with Justin and I know it is a big no-no ....

When he was sick, the only way he would fall asleep was to have a bottle. Now, he will only fall asleep with a bottle in his mouth. Naps and bedtime. I know this is bad for his teeth, but my question is how is that any worse than holding him to give him his bottle and then putting him down. Doesn't the formula still rest on his teeth either way??? I am so worried his teeth are going to rot.

Both of my kids went to sleep with a bottle until the were three years old
Their teeth are fine. I know other children who got severe baby bottle decay and had their front teeth removed as toddlers because of it though.

As long as you aren't giving him Koolaid or Juice in his bottle at bed time and you are atleast wiping his gums/teeth down with a washcloth (if not brushing) once a day, I think he will be fine.

My niece had all sorts of problems with her teeth and had to have several fillings before she was even 5 years old. However, she was 100% breastfed and never, I repeat NEVER took a bottle.

So I definitely wouldn't stress over it!

I would not stress either. ABby nurses to go to sleep every night.

I'm with Elaine. We still have "bottle" nights here too. I WANT to resist, but the part of me that needs a little adult or quiet time usually wins.......

I am so glad I am not the only one! I take solace in the fact that he won't have a bottle after 1 yr, which is just 1 month away. Then I will have the joy of listening to crying until he gets over it I guess. Thank god for the front porch and Jose Cuervo!
