Do you feel like an outsider when it comes to the IL's

Lately that is how I am feeling. When we go to visit...IL's hardly say a word to me...in the past they would talk my ear off. I don't know what has happened. I am hoping that once they get into their new house things will go back to normal...if not then I will be asking what's wrong.

TOTALLY!!!!!!!

They loved me before we got married, and then right before we got married, I said something about I really didn't like dh's sister, and ever since then they treat me like I am crap and say maybe 3 words to me, and that is only if I am the only one around!

Hell ya! (Thank God!) They loved me too prior to the wedding. I even got flowers after the engagement. But our families are VERY different, I came from upper middle class, no drama and Billy is SO white trash, I couldn't begin to tell ya! Right before the wedding, Billy announced our whole name change thing and they decided it was my doing (QUITE the opposite) and I am now person non-grata. No problem though, stop talking to me and my hubby stops talking to you. Ah, sometimes I really like Billy.

My inlaws and I get along pretty well, even though I have some "interesting" ideas about all the races being equal So I do feel like an outsider in some respects, but in my situation that's actually a good thing.

My inlaws treat me exactly like family and that's not always a good thing.

Hmm that's funny! My inlaws didn't like me before we got married. DH was the first child they had get married then the rest followed- I think they were caught by suprise and didn't know how to deal with it. Then I had problems with dh's twin brothers girlfriend- now wife. We have our difference and have had some pretty nasty cat fights. I think they finally realized she was the crazy one. We are getting closer- I actually wish we lived closer to them so we could see them more often. We live 2 hours away from both of our parents.

Just found I can't edit to add to my post, so in case I came across wrong in my previous post - what I was trying to say was his family thinks my ideas about the races being equal are "interesting" (or odd) - they have held onto some 1950's type ideas and it bugs me. I got to thinking I wrote that out wrong and it may have sounded like I was saying the opposite of what I was meaning to. So hopefully this time around I made some sense

My inlaws are great and I fit right in with them. Although they live far away, so that always helps!

I lived with my In laws before we were married and things were great between us and then we had a awkward moment after we were married and now I am just their daughter, my MIL is always telling me that.
