when would you worry?

Nicholas has been "off" for the last 3 days or so. Started with the croupy cough...which is now just a cough...BUT he has been unable to eat solids for 2 1/2 days now...every time we try he gags and or throws up so he has been just getting bottles.

Tonight though was even worse. Jerry put him to bed and he was coughing.....he ended up coughing so much and so hard he started throwing up....

THe good thing is that he has no fever. I have sent Jerry out for pedialyte just in case.......I dont' know what else to do for him

Is he stuffed up ? Sounds like sinus drainage..Jared has probs with that, too and does the same thing - no eat, just drink.
Do you have any of the baby chest rub stuff? ( johnsons, vicks - maybe a humidifiyer woudl help ?

My doc says not to use the chest rubs.. says it can cause pneumonia (if it is not sinus drainage I am assuming)

BUT, how about vapor bath? or a humidifyer, or vaporizer? (um.. I think one of those you aren't supposed to use.. maybe the vaporizer?)

But.. me being me.. I would at least call the nurse line at your doctors.

he is not stuffed up.....just has a harsh cough......i have been using the humidifier in his room....and yes its teh vaporizer that you are not supposed to use...

the other reason for not using things like vapo rub is that with babies sensitive skin, it can actually burn their skin

well i called off sick for today at work......he woke up this morning and his cough is sounding really tight....i gave him a bit of a bottle and the first thing he did was gag...didn't but just gagged....and is miserable so i figure better safe than sorry

Has he seen a doctor yet Michele?Where it has been a couple days now he has been like this, you maybe should take him in.

I know when I get that bad a cough sometimes, I get to the point of throwing up too. Just so much crap in your chest and throat it makes your stomach turn the wrong way! That could also explain the not eating part. I would try a hunidifier overnight to see if it clears up at all, but if not, would at least call the doc the next day to see if they think they need to see him.

well we went to teh dr....he is not worried about nicholas not eating yet...since he is at least getting formula......and his chest sounds better than Lizs (just doesnt seem like it). He told me i could use liz's puffer on him if needed
