Need help on using chilled expressed milk

Dear Anne,
I'm breast-feeding my son and bottle-feeding him with expressed milk as well. As my milk supply is great so I pump milk (I'm using Pump In Style Breastpump by Medela) after I feed him and chill it in the refrigerator. I only use chilled milk which is expressed within the day but I concern about the milk. As I take the bottle from the refrigerator, it's quite cool. Is that okay to feed the baby with that cool milk? I'm afraid so I put the bottle in warm water but it take time to thaw (about more than an hour)
Is that okay to take chilled milk out of the refrigerator and have it thawed about one or two hour before feeding the baby. I know fresh expressed milk can be stored in room temperature for 4 to 10 hours, but not sure about chilled milk which is taken out from the refrigerator ?
I've just started to used Medela Pump In Style Breastpump for 2 days. My breast is not swolen anymore but milk is leaking more frequently than before even when my breast is still soft. Is that normal ? My son is fed about 8 - 10 times a day, half of that is bottle feeding (usually at night time) using expressed milk and the orther is breastfeeding. I'm following your advice to keep my milk supply stable...Is using the breastpump have someting related to milk supply, is that okay for me to pump milk out after each feeding and when my breast is full ?
I am looking forward to hearing from you. Thank you,
Funi

Hi Funi,
Many babies don't mind drinking milk right out of the fridge (just run the nipple under warm water if it's been chilled too - babies don't like the feel of a cold nipple!) Drinking cold milk will not upset their stomachs, and many babies will accept it just fine at any temperature.
If you don't want to offer it cold, then try running it under warm water from the sink for a minute or so, or sitting it in a pan of warm water just long enough to take the chill off.
You mention "thawing" milk that is "chilled". Cold milk is different from frozen milk. If is is frozen, then it may take over an hour to thaw and defrost it, but it shouldn't take over an hour to take the chill off milk that has been refrigerated but not frozen.
For more details, see the article "Collecting and Storing Breastmilk" on my website.
As far as pumping goes, it can definitely cause an increase in your supply. Any time you remove milk from your breasts, whether by nursing or pumping, you are sending your body the signals to make more milk. How often you pump depends on how much milk you are producing. If you feel that you need to increase your supply, then you can pump more often. If you feel that you are producing too much milk and your breasts are leaking and uncomfortable, then you can cut back and pump less often. That's entirely up to you.

It sounds like you are doing great!
