curbing temper tantrums

OK I thinkthat after 2 years I may have FINALLY found something that is helping Liz with her tantrums and misbehaving (as jerry calls it--i say sometimes she is just downright bad--like when she hurts her friends).

She recently got her computer taken away for awhile becuase she was being so bad....and now she has to earn her puter back.....how does she do this?? SHe has a chart with 10 squares.

Every time she makes a real attempt at trynig to do something taht she has a hard time with she gets a sticker

she has a day with no tantrums she gets a sticker

She does something to help me (without me asking) and she gets a sticker.

Just things like that in 2 days she has 4 stickers. Yesterday when she started to freak out I reminded her that if she has a tantrum then she won't get a sticker for being good.....it works!!

Sooooo once all this is over I am going to make a new chart with 20 squares...once all 20 sqaures have stickers then she can go into the "Mystery Bag" and pick out a special prize (dollar store thing).

so today is day 3....i will let you all know how it goes!

so far so good...although she told me today that its goign to take too many days to get her puter back so her and i had a chat about why her puter was taken away (mainly for hitting me, her friend, and the kids on the bus). I hope next time she will think about it before she does it (yueah i know...wishful thinking)
