I have mentioned my brother before. Married with two kids. Has a hard time keeping a job, keeping a decent house (of course, decent housing is hard to find at a cheap price there), has no benefits, would rather have a good time partying than taking care of his bills. Well, he has a child from a previous relationship. Well, we assume she is his. She was with other guys during that time. He just happened to be the one that took responsibility for it because they'd been engaged. Anyhow. Never had the paternity test because "he can't afford $500 for one". Ex-girfriend decided to go on welfare, so they forced her to pursue child support from my brother. She said she didn't want it and didn't want anything to do with him. Hmmmmm... Really sounds like it's his kid, huh? She's got another one with another guy, too. Didn't marry him either. Lives off the government and mooches off of her parent. Real winner here. Anyhow. And there's this poor little girl in the middle of it.
Well, they had this child support agreement. He lost his job and couldn't pay. Got a new job and the court made arrangements for him to get caught up on what he owed her. He hurt himself and couldn't work. Got behind again. Once again, they made arrangements. Well, I'm not sure why, but he now owes like $700. He had a court date this week and since he didn't have the $700 to pay what he owed, he just didn't go to court, because they'd told him if he didn't pay, he'd go to jail. He had part of it, but not the whole amount. So, instead of taking what he had and explaining the situation, he just didn't show up.
Now, if you're unemployed because of a legitimate injury and you also have a wife and two other kids to take care of, what judge in their right mind is gonna throw you in jail? If you're in jail, you certainly can't work and you're sure not gonna be paying child support, are you? If you're honest and go in and explain the truth, they may still be hard on you, but are they really gonna haul your butt to jail? If you don't show up for court, of course they're gonna issue a warrant. And of course they're gonna throw your hiney in jail! What kind of moron are you??????
