Put her bassinet in front of a window tomorrow morning and open the blinds. Let her sleep in a diaper in the sunlight and it will help some.

I don't want to worry you, but shouldn't newborns be taken back to the hospital, if they get jaundice once they are home? I heard that because women and babies are released so early from the hospital now adays, some babies end up going back in because of it. Maybe you could phone your doctor, or a nurse at labor and delivery to find out.

I would go back to the doctor today if possible, or atleast call them today and ask what you should do. Nick had jaundice and had to stay in the hospital an extra day. It's easily helped, but I think it's dangerous if it goes untreated.

I would call first - but be prepared to take her back.

TJ had it and we did the putting the bassinet in front of the window thing. You should probably give the doctor a call and get it checked out, just to be safe. Odds are they'll just give you a list of things to do and watch for, but better safe than sorry when they are so little.

Not sure how you DD looks but Mine was yellow and what really worried me was when she would open her eyes and they looked yellow also. Check in her mouth and if the gums start to look yellow I say make the appt, don't call just make the appt. My DD blood count was very high for an infant her age she was kept in the hospital for two days under the lights. They would check her blood every 6 or 8 hrs. I went on my instincts everyone in my family said she looked fine to them but I could tell something was wrong and I'm glad I made the appt.

nicholas had to be put under the lights for 2 days when he was born.......Liz never went under the lights but we had to keep waking her up every 3 hours to feed her......as long as she is peeing, pooping and eatign she should be ok

I agree, I would call and see what they want you to do. Rhyne had to go back for 3 weeks because of jaundice
