What's your toddlers bed routine?

Now that I have taken Desi off the baby cup at night she dosen't want to use the sippy cup in her crib which is fine but last night was the worst. She cried for a good 30 minutes. I know she was tired cause she didn't hava a nap. How does everyone else get their toddler to bed. I though maybe I should get up and rock her but I'm not sure if that will work. We are going on a whole week with no cup. She's not asking for it during the day which is great it's at night that I know she is more effected by it. I was my fault that I let her put her self to sleep drinking her milk now I feel that I need to help her find a new way to get to bed. Any idea's would be great.

Thanks.

We start with a bath and stories, play with daddy, then and she particuarlly hates this part, but it seems to give her a feeling of control - we walk her to her room, make sure she has all her kitties and then close the door and let her get herself in bed. If we change one little thing, she gets very upset, but she's doing loads better at bedtime now. Good luck!

we have bath, bottle/book. and a ceremonieous blowing of kisses and waving night night on the way down the hallway. usually works but not always

on the nights it doesn't work he just cries for a couple of minutes or plays then right to sleep

We've gotten into a routine of getting into bed (we have a family bed), watch SpongeBob for 30 minutes and then off the t.v. and lamp go, Alexander gets into his own bed (at the foot of ours) and we all go to sleep. Not what you're looking for, I know, but that's our routine!

When she was smaller we had a good routine, bath then bottle I would rock her then lay her down. But now it's all messed up cause i was lazy and put the milk in her crib. I guess it's all about starting all over. I would do the bath at night but my mom likes to give her a bath during the day so she'll take her nap. Maybe I'll try the rocking and a book. She's still in her crib so once she stopes crying she will play with her little doggies she's got in bed. I just hope last night was a one time thing. I'm just not used to it and I feel so bad hearing her cry.

Rhyne will watch tv with me until 9 and then I just take her to her room, tell her to get in bed, I tuck her in give her kisses, she says I love you, amen and night night. That's it. Lately she's been getting up, but she's been taking a nap at 5 pm - 7 pm so that is wreaking havoc on the system

Kimmy's bedtime routine:

Bath, story, potty, sip of milk, prayers, kisses. Then she is supposed to go to sleep. We usually have 2 or 3 more trips to the potty and another sip of milk and more kisses. She usually goes to sleep about 30 minutes after I put her to bed but she doesn't cry.

He falls asleep on the couch usually after watching TV and then we carry him to bed.

We have a whole evening routine that works wonderfully for us!

My husband comes home from work around 5:15 & then, he plays with the girls till about 6 pm, he washes their hands & we eat dinner.

After dinner they play with blocks with mommy & daddy & some other toys. Every other night they get a bath at 7:00. The nights they dont they just play.

At 7:30 they get their jammies on, they get a small snack, half a glass of milk.

They just play till 8:00 when we brush their teeth & wash their hands, then go to bed between 8:15 & 8:30.

Wake up the next morning at 8 am & nap from 12:30 - 3:00 or 3:30.

My trick is routine, but I did let them set the routine the way they seemed happy with it, but yet a reasonable routine. It worked for us.

I also tell them before the time "ok girls in 5 minutes we have to Brush your teeth & wash your hands" Then "5 more minutes & its time to go to night night"

They gladly oblige as they are used to it I think, they thrive greatly on this routine!
