Daniel will not give up the bottle, especially for milk. He will sometimes take juice and water froma cup, but milk he'll only accept from a bottle. What worked for your child when weaning from the bottle?

with LIz we went to Walmart and let her pick out her own special sippy cups tha twere JUST FOR MILK....NOTHING else ever went into these cups......and that was how we started it.....it actually went easier than i thought that it would....she has only just recently stopped using sippy cups altogether (unless we are in the van/bus)

We basically did the same as Michele and switched them over to sippy cups that we let them pick out. However, we switched them over earlier, like around 14 or 15 months, so that may have made it easier. Once they get set in their ways, it's really difficult to convince them to try yours!
I'd just make a huge deal over what a big boy he is now and maybe let him pick out his own special cup. Since he's older, I'd even skip the sippy cup and maybe let him pick out one of those kid's sports type cups with a straw or something. Walmart has a whole section of them!
Good luck! It will probably go easier than you expect!

I don't remember it being a problem with Brandon, but with Justin, I guess you could say we got lucky. He got sick, couldn't drink milk so he got only juice only in a cup for a week and a half. I never gave him a bottle again. It took a day or so to get him to drink the milk, but when that was all he was offered, he started drinking it. Just don't offer anything else, and make sure you up the yogurt, cheese and other calcium friendly foods until he drinks it.

Sam was easy. At 12 months we took her bottles away. At 9 she still wants a sippy cup sometimes. Drives me nuts. She wanted me to but her one last night
Logan I didn;t do till 15 months bc he was still on formula. He licked the disposible sippy cups bc he could still hold the end in his mouth and walk around with it. I just went back to those as opposed to the more expensive cups and he doe snot like them too much anymore bc you have to suck harder to get anything out.
