When your Toddler doesn't listen to you

Our son Alex ignores us when we call to him, even when we know he hears us. Although he doesn't talk much yet, he can identify lots of pictures, which suggests his comprehension is good. He's a very sweet natured, fun loving boy in all other respects.

All his senses are sharp. Any suggestions?
