Do you do anything special for the kids on Valentine's?

I used to go overboard when Jessi was little, but honestly, I really haven't done much since the boys came along. I'll have to think on this one! What do you do for your kids?

We've never done anything with the kids or without. Lys has a party at school this year so I've been trying to explain WHAT Valentines day is - kinda tough to a three year old.

We give the girls a new pair of shoes (being shoe freaks like they are) and send roses to school for them. Our son gets $100 to spend as he picks.

Just those small heart shaped boxes of chocolates and we sit down and do the little valentines for preschool.

He'll get a little something from us - and prolly bunches of somethings from the Nanas

Of course we do...

I can't imagine a holiday going by that we didn't go overboard on the kids Don't even try and imagine our Christmases! LOL.

First, we have a dance to go to with the kids. It's a mother-son, father-daughter dance. So of course they got new outfits for the dance. The night of Valentines Day we will have a family get together here and there will be a special dessert table. Some desserts will be made by the children and myself and others will come from the local french bakery that is to die for.

They will get their presents from us, presents from their grandpaents, great grandparents and aunt.

I have not done all of my shopping yet, but so far I picked up a few dresses and two pairs of cute shoes, 2 porcelain dolls, a few books and a Barbie for my daughter.

I have not picked up as much yet for my won. He will get some game cube games, a new controller for it, some books, a spider-man stool he has been dying for (We try to avoid this type thing, but...)

They will also get chocolate and cards from us. The lists will grow between now and Valentines day. Then we will be on to Easter as well!

I always buy each of the kiddos a box of chocolates and a card and then we have a special candlelit dinner with the fancy schmancy plates, etc.
This year I was thinking of maybe taking the family to a hotel for the night that has an indoor pool but we will hafta see what the prices will be first.

Krista that sounds like fun!!

They will all get Candy. Maddie so far I found a tin that is shaped like a mail box and has a Madeline theme on it. It has cookies in it so she will get probably a heart with chocolate candies in it.

Everyone gets cards and a little something. Grandma will go nuts I am sure.

The girls get a card, and a little something with candy.

Although not this year, unless I do it early

My kids will each get a small box of chocolates and that's it. Once they're in school, I'm sure they'll get candy and cards from their friends. I also help my kids make cards for the grandparents and great-aunts. To me, it's not about buying them everything they want for every holiday but just letting them know that I love them and remembered them on that day.

I like the idea of a fancy dinner, Krista! And I like the idea of a special dessert table too. That might be a fun thing to do for Elizabeth's birthday party since it's on the 11th.

Valentine's Day is just about reminding my family how much I love them. So the kids with get a little gift or 2 and a small piece of candy. Drew is getting one of the new Yu-Gi-Oh starter decks and a book on solitaire games. Ally is getting a magnet set to use on her new board she got for her birthday and a Blues Clues book. (I relaly like to give the kids books to encourage them to read more.) Then I usually put it all in a bag that I decorate. Not much, but they love it.

Rick I will get something special for, of course. But the real present comes after the kids are in bed!

And this year, since both of the kids like to cook, we are going to make a heart shaped cake and I am going to let them decorate it themselves and give it to daddy!

Jen was too young to understand last year. This year I am planning on taking her out to dinner and making her a basket of Valentine's goodies.

We're not doing anything for Kate either. She detests chocolate. Also, Valentine's is not a happy day for me (my parent's anniversary). Now they are not only divorced and also anulled, I'm not that into celebrating it. We'll do more when she is in school.

Jerry and I were talking about this the other day. We have decided that we are NOT going to go overboard on this at all. It would be different if it were Christmas or Easter....but its just a silly holiday that makes companies like Hallmark and such all kinds of money....and gives us parents grief as we hear i want this or I want that......

I think all the kids will get is a card made by mommy and daddy, and Liz is going ot make cards too....with Nicholas' help of course. My mom is going ot be here too, so I am sure the the 3 of htem will do something while I am at work.

rhyne gets a few things with candy (we stay away from chocolate) so this year she got a little purse with Cutie written on it and those hearts in it with the writing on them. And she got a snoopy cell phone with some kind of sweet tarts in it.
