I would love to experience being surprised for my birthday. I gave one for Steve when he turned 40 and it was so much fun!! I loved seeing the look on his face That would be so neat to experience!!!!!!

I am not ever going to expect one though because I don't have anyone that will probably give me one. My family is too busy and I'm not even going to expect one from Steve because - well - I just don't expect that kind of creativity from him. I just want ONE birthday that stands out for me. Just one. I know it sounds selfish but I really want one someday. I have really enjoyed doing things for other people on their birthdays. Maybe Steve will pull through for me someday and surprise me with one.

I have had people TRY to surprise me, but somehow I always figure it out. I always ACT surprised though. If I lived closer, I would throw you a party Cheryl!

No, but I've given a few myself!

Not a surprise birthday party but I had a surprise party when I graduated from college and my two baby showers were surprises. I actually figured out about the first one but I pretended to be surprised.

Like you, Cheryl, I would love to have a surprise birthday party one year. I turn 35 this October so maybe my dear hubby will throw me one then. Of course, we'll have a newborn so he may not. I may have to wait until I'm 40 and hope for one then.

Becky...you are quite the detective, eh? Thanks

Lisa, I turn 35 this year too. No wonder we think so much alike

Nope. I did receive a surprise graduation party, but never a birthday party.

I gave one for DH on his 30th bday and I was given two surprise baby showers but I found out about them beforehand both times.
I kwym about not expecting anything that creative from your dh. I don't expect too much for my 30th bday next month. And I even told him he had BETTER do something special to make up last year. I don't have my expectations up or anything-that is for sure!

Well, it was my ex-husband giving me the party when we were married and he and my sister hated each other. Well, they were getting along and talking, so I kind of figured something was going on to make them have a truce for a couple of days. lol

Becky. At least they were somewhat civil to each other while planning for it. No wonder you were suspicious

I have never had any kind of surprise party...not even graduation. Not even a surprise bridal shower. Nothing. I wanna be surprised for something

Now, I've been surprised at presents that were given to me:
1. My brother bought me a new car right before my sophmore year in college.
2. My mom surprised me with a college jacket from my college (she gave the money to give to my roommate to get it..then my roommate gave it to one of the girls we went to college with, Kelly. Then Kelly gave it to my aunt and uncle who use to go to the same church as her. Then my uncle, who use to work for the company my brother and I work for now, gave it to my brother and my brother gave it to my mom. I never suspected a thing )
3. Steve surprised me by buying me a fax machine for my birthday (came in handy when I was petsitting...which I hope to start up again someday as soon as my supervisor has a job for me). Then he surprised me when he bought me a diamond cross necklace for our recent anniversary.

I'd be surprised if dh gave me a graduation party. I am not expecting anything this May or June. So I'll just go on my trip to Colorado (I could just tell him getting a new - used - car can be a graduation present LOL ).
