Do you assign chores to your children? If so, what are they?

Do they have to do them daily? Weekly?

We have a cleaning lady. But the kids are to keep their cars clean, rooms picked up and various other small chores.

no- I think shes to little to have "chores"

But she will put away her own laundry and she helps with her sisters. and she for some reason likes to help take out garbage.

Im happy if her dirty laundry makes it to the hamper

Of course-with 4 children it is a must!

Their normal weekly chores are:

For Zachary and Bailey-
Clean room
pick up playroom
help put away folded laundry
take turns emptying the dishwasher
And in the summer they help with the dusting and vacuuming

Right now they are both grounded with 'hard labor' and they do 2 extra chores a day which could include cleaning bathrooms, dusting, vacuuming, picking up wherever needed, loading dishwasher, folding laundry and putting away, hanging laundry & sweeping the kitchen floor.

Emily just has to clean her room and pick up her things from the Family room.

Payton just has to look cute.

Logan helps pick up his toys pretty good as long as he is 'helping' me do it

he loves to unload the dishwasher with me

thats it for now..

i notice that he loves to help me do things so i try to encorporate him in household things i do.. too bad i don't do more around the house

Drew and Ally both have a few chores, but nothing compared to what I had growing up.

Drew has to take out the trash daily and to the curb on Monday and Thursday night for pickup the next morning. He helps Bill with the yard once a week and is supposed to keep his room straight (not that he ever does!) And he has to put away his clothes.

Ally has to pick up her toys and help put away her clothes. She loves to help me cook, do laundry and clean (when I do it). She even has her own kid sized set of cleaning stuff! Mostly she likes to use my feather duster!

They have to take care of their laundry (clean and dirty). They keep their beds made and their room clean. Caitlyn feeds the cats. Angela does the dishwasher (load and unload). Brandon unloads the washer and does the dryer. Angela (as punishment) has to fold the extra clothes by herself (towels, napkins, etc). They rotate nightly who sets the table and who cleans it. Weekly, they each pick a room and super clean it (bathroom, their bedroom, the living room).

My boys have a few chores. Not all of them are done daily. Usually I take care of most of the housework but everyone is helping out since I am pregnant.

Christian-
-Walks/feeds dog for the winter(after the snow melts she goes outside and the 3 older boys all take care of her)
-Wipes down bathroom counters and cleans mirror(I do not believe he should be cleaning toilets yet, so Mike and I do that part)
-Helps clean up toys in bedroom and playroom
-Makes bed
-Likes to vacuume once in a while, but I only let him do it because he likes it, I don't consider it his chore
-Folds his clothes
-Sorts dirty laundry
-Sweeps

Michael and Devon-
-Help clean up toys in living room and playroom
-Feeds cats
-Cleans Kitchen table
-Dusts
-Sweeps(Michael is learning, Devon is not ready yet)
-Sorts dirty laundry

Nicholas-
-Throws away his own diapers(believe it or not he started this on his own)
-Sometimes when everyone else is cleaning he will help put the laundry in a pile, but it's not really a chore, just something I have noticed he does on his own.

I have 4 children ages 17 years to 28 years old and I started them early by playing band music really loud and we'd have a "pick up parade" and march around the room picking up toys and putting them in the toy box. As they got older they would dust and fluff pillows. Then they got older they they progressed into folding wash cloths, kitchen towels and matching up socks. About every 6 months I would add something appropriate for their ages. They have all learned to cook and clean by doing it in little bits.
I have two teen boys still at home who are very involved at school and homework and they do dishes and garbage daily. They call themselves the "dish wench" and the "garbage wench"!
My daughter is in college and she uses her specialty to earn extra money. She is great at cleaning spots out of clothes. She does specialty laundry for the other girls at the Fashion Institute of Technology in Manhattan! These girls have fabulously expensive cloths and they have no idea how to care for them!
Punishment for lying to me was to clean a bathroom. For a while I had the cleanest bathrooms in town! Now when my bathrooms get dirty I always smile because it means my kids have been good!
