Blood Type Diet

My MIL's doctor recommended that she try this diet, not for weight loss so much as for eating better. I'm not sure I believe it'll help, but as long as it's not hurting her, I don't see the harm, so I'd like to help her out with recipes and cooking, if possible. Has anyone had any experience with this plan, and if so, what are some good (and preferably cheap) resources on what's allowed and what's not?

I've heard about this, but doesn't the diet vary based upon your blood type or something? I would try going to Yahoo Groups and searching for related groups. I did this with my diet and found a local group, a women's group, and a couple other good general groups that I can turn to when I get stuck or need some help.

Do you know much about the way the diet works? I'd be very interested in hearing more -- I'm becoming fascinated by all this fitness stuff!

here's a review of it - http://www.dieting-review.com/bloodtype.htm

Based on this review, I would consider a low fat/low salt diet rather than this one. It doesn't sound very healthy.

I know, Lenora - it seems like every link I find about the diet says it's a bad idea. I've sent all the info to DH, but whether he takes it to heart, I don't know. I question the whole current treatment path right now, but I just feel like it's not my place to argue, ya know? I'm 'just' a daughter-in-law, after all, and quite a bit younger than the kids, so I feel like I wouldn't be taken seriously. But that's just me.

I just figure if I prepare some freezer meals for her, at least we'll all feel like she's getting good variety. Oh, and she's not an O blood type (which has a more reasonable diet, similar to Atkins, actually), which makes it harder.

Some friends of mine in CT SWEAR by this blood type diet. Everyone in the family, ever the toddler is on it. They say that 2 of their kids haven't had to use a nebulizer since starting the diet and they are all less prone to illness.... Me, I think they're nuts and I told them so. Then again, won't hurt to give it a shot I guess....
