Do you want the netting to be a real mosquito net in summer?? or just a decoration??

You could use bamboo to make a rectangular frame (nice and lightweight), use cup hooks to attack it to the ceiling (using fishing line to fix it to the hooks) and then just thread the netting on the bamboo.

You could attach what ever little frills and tassels you want, and you can easily take it down for washing or for when you move.

I know that you can use a large embroidery hoop. I have seen it done. I'll see if I can find a link for it.

Cora's canopy was only $8.99. Of course, the choices were hot pink or the blue you see in the thread of our current house pics. Our Current Home

I don't know if you can find anything around town more like you want for that price too. The package it came in wasn't much larger than an old record album. So, it wouldn't take up too much space. It's a thought though. It might be easier and cheaper on you. You can always call the ladies at JoAnn's. You'd be surprised at the stuff those ladies know!
