Looking for any old wives tales

or any other advice. Not that we are going to start TTC anytime soon, but I figure the sooner I know these things the better.

What I need is your tips and tricks on how to make a girl!!! I so want a little girl. We will probably start trying come January or so. I am going to do any and everything I get told about making a girl!

When we were TTC, a friend of mine told me that the earlier you conceive during your ovulation the more likely it will be a girl. Don't know if this works since we couldn't conceive on our own. I read a book called The Fastest Way to Get Pregnant Naturally and the guy who wrote it pooh-poohed all the old wives tales. So , who knows if they work or not, but it would be worth trying!

Thanks for those sites Nicole. What I am looking for though are ways to try and conceive a girl. I have heard if you have sex a day or two before you ovulate chances of a girl are better, cos male sperms die quicker. I just wondered if there were any other tales....

I believe I head the same thing about having sex two days before Ovulation. I know I have also heard it has a lot to do with who comes first.

I think I read too that if the women is on top, that is a good way to conceive a girl.

I remember that when Princess Diana was TTC, she made Charles take warm showers before sex to help ensure a boy. So, I wonder if cold showers would work? LOL

My old neighbor used a vinegar douche before having sex, something about it makes the PH levels more conductive to the female sperm. She did have 2 girls, one planned and using the vinegar thing, but the other was an UH OH without the vinegar so who knows. I was going to try this but the only planned baby I had was concieved on the month we WEREN'T trying so never managed to actually put this to the test. It is a medical fact that most female sperm are longer lived so having sex 3-5 days before O is the best for having a girl, however it makes it harder to concieve and it doesn't guarentee anything. Good luck....I have come to the conclusion that you just get what you get, there really is no real way to choose the gender "naturally".

That's what I think as well, Bridget. Actually, this is true too. Men who have worked in an environment where they have come in contact with low levels of radiation are also more likely to have girls. They are also more likely to become sterile. Maybe it is true. We have a dd and his brother has two dds and they have both spent years working around low levels of radiation. I would not reccommend this method.

When I was trying to get pregnant I read somewhere that if the DH takes warm showers right before sex then your chances of having a girl is greater. I don't know if my DH just has girls in him, but we always had sex right after his shower at night.
