Going down the toilet

Potty training is regressing faster and faster!

I am at a loss on what else to do. Brandon is having the biggest issues with pooping still. He was doing ok for a while no accidents. But last Thursday he had 4 accidents at the babysitters and then 3 more when we got home. I am kind of thinking he had a touch of whatever virus Justin had because he normally doesn't go that much, but he also holds it when he has to go, so the "accidents" are usually no more than pebble size but get mushed. This weekend I worked with him, and we spent a lot of time in the bathroom. He would tell me he had to go, but by that time, butt cheeks are clenched and he is walking stiff legged to do the bathroom because it is already coming out. He gets on the pot, and plop, a little milk dud size pellet comes out and that is all. 20 minutes later, we go through it again. I talked to the Ped and she said by 4 he knows when he has to go. We have tried taking things away, we have tried spanking, we have tried taking the binkie away (that was worse on me) at night. The Ped gave me a laxative to give him but I am scared of the accidents he'll have then.

Is anyone having any breakthroughs in this area and have any words of wisdom? Do I give up and go back to pull ups? Do I need to get stricter? Brandon so has control over this issue!

I'm sorry Jen, I don't know what to tell you. Whatever you do, just be consistent, I think that's the biggest thing.

Does your sitter have any suggestions for you?

Have you tried asking Brandon what is going on? Maybe he could tell you that he's not feeling well, or maybe there's something going on at day care?

I think I would try talking to him and see what you can find out. If it seems that he's going through something right now, maybe you'll just have to try to get him back on track. If he's just being lazy, then maybe you need to come down a little harder.

Honestly, I have no idea. I hope that whatever you decide to try, works for both of you. Sorry I'm not much help.
