What is the dumbest thing...

What is the dumbest thing anyone ever said to you about your kids?
When Nicole was 9 or 10 months, a friend said "If you got her around more kids, she would talk more."

Oh that is not good.

Let see recently mine was from my mother about Alisha wanting attention. I corrected her on that one.

Before we started potty training Alexander, my MIL told us that sometimes you have to make them start using the potty for your (the parent's) benefit. She said that parenting meant often making your kids learn how to do things quicker than they normally would because it helps you in some way. I completely disagree and let her know. I mean, why be a parent if you're more interested in your needs and wants?

Oh, she also said this when both kids were newborns and I know others have heard this too but I disagree with it. She said that you have to let them cry for awhile to "teach" them whose boss and not hold them alot, crying or not. Otherwise, she said, they will be spoiled and you'll never have any control over them. She wanted me to let my less than a month old cry! She didn't want me to hold my babies because it spoiled them and made them think they were in charge. Crazy advice in my opinion.

And a friend was told by her mother that she wasn't suppose to hold her newborn because it would cause him to bruise! She told her to handle him as little as possible or else he'd be black and blue. Have you ever heard such a thing?

I have heard of the one your MIL told you, I to never believed that. The one of being bruised never, ever heard that. Hope she did not follow it.

She did when her mom was around.

Oh geez, but I understand why she did it. Moms can be a nag, some of them.

Just the other day a stupid bimbo asked me if Katie is my "own" child. (she's from China) I said yes, she's mine. She said, "Oh well I just assumed she was adopted." I was pmsing so I left it alone. If I started explaining what a moron she was I might not have been able to stop.

I've been asked by serveral DUMMIES if both of my Daughter's hair was real. They both have very pretty hair, nautrally curly and it just blows my mind that someone would ask that. Like I would put a wig on my one year old. or my six year old.

That's happened to me before with Devon. He has his dads latin skin tone so they assumed he wasn't mine.

That is so stupid. I feel sorry for any baby she has cared for.

I think her thinking came from having four babies in four years, but I agree. It's no advice I would ever follow.

The latest was from a couple at church.

"Wow, Your daughter is huge!"

Excuse me, she is only 30th %.

Their daughter is just really tiny and not even on the chart. (They are about the same age)

I didn't really let it bother me, since this couple is really wierd.

"Are they twins"

No lady, I just borrow a baby to come shopping because I can't live without dumb arse comments like that !!!!!!!!!
Lori, our family is always comparing Elizabeth with her cousin who is six weeks older than her. They are very different in size, height, weight, clothes & shoe size, etc. My niece happens to be the bigger one and although she's not fat, when the family gets together they start in on how she's so much bigger than "little Elizabeth". I always try to head it off and change the topic because I know it bothers my SIL and because it's not fair comparing them. I'm sorry that that couple does it with your daughter and their's.

Maree, I have a twin brother and the one we use to get alot (and still do often these days) is "are you identical twins?"

My favorite.... "Oh, a baby!!!! Is it a boy or a girl?" We had him in a suit with dress shoes and a tie on. Ummmm..... Here's your sign!
Same here with the.... is it a boy or girl comment. I had that a lot with my first dauther. I could never understand why they would say that , since we had her in PINK with a headband on. Some people are just stupid.

Love it " Here's your sign"

My MIL told me we should not let Austin play with necklaces and girl type toys because that would make him gay.
Kate I have gotten that so many times. And here is my poor son...decked out in his princess gear and heels with his police badge and rifle...

Everyone thought Maddie was a boy even though she was in pink head to toe. Everyone thought Gavin was a girl.

I have been told to not do so many things or to do so many things it is hard to remember them all.
