A friend of mine recently went through a divorce after a 7 year marriage. During the length of the marriage she and her husband had partial custody of his son who was 2 in beginning so she has been part of his life for as long as he can remember. She also gave birth to the boy's sister during this time.
While the boy's mother completely welcomes my friend into her son's life and invites her to special ocasions, the father gets angry at her for intruding on events that he would like to attend but doesn't feel comfortable with her there.
Does she have the right to continue and fight for her relationship with her 9 yr old stepson or should she respect his father's wishes and back off and let the boy get used to the idea of her not being around as often.
He is not trying to keep the brother and sister from spending time together as they can see eachother any time at the grandparent's house.
