FAQ on Posting
are you wondering how to do things here at Baby University, let me help you.

We have some computer lingo here at Baby U

We have some computer lingo here at Baby U, SAHM (Stay At Home Mom), DD (Dear Daughter), DS (Dear Son), and DH (Dear Husband)

There are two ways of posting here at Baby U
1. The first one is if you are reading something and want to reply to it.
At the top and bottom of the post there is an option that says Post a Reply. It will open up a new page that says post a reply. There is a subject box, that you can fill in if you want to, but it is optional. Then you can choose an icon to go with the subject if you want... Then you type your reply into the empty box. If you want to play around with fonts and colors you can... Right above the reply box there is something that says VB Code. If you want to put something in Bold you click on the B, then type it into the box that pops up. Then when you hit enter it puts it into your reply in that context. The I is for Italic, the U is for underlined etc. You can change the size, color, and type of font in the next area. For instance if you want something to stand out you can change the color.
There is also a link for help, if you are having problems with these features.

The other fun thing you can do in a post is insert smiles. Directly to the left of the reply box, you will see a box of smilies. To put one in your post, to do this you just click directly on the smile of your choice. It will insert at the end of what you are typing. There are more smilies available by clicking on the "Get More" link in the smilie box. These will also show you the code to use to get smilies. For example, typing : t e e t h : (without the spaces) will show up in your post.

How to reply

Below the reply box you will see a section, which will allow you to choose whether or not to receive reply notifications, show your signature in your posts, etc.
Then you go to the options section, and put check marks if you want to receive Emails whenever someone replies, or if you want it to show your signature etc.

When you are done, you have the option of previewing your reply or submitting your reply. Previewing will show you what your post will look like. It also allows you to check for mistakes and correct them before you post. If you are happy with what you have, then just click on Submit Reply and it will be posted.
Then you can select preview reply, if you want to see how it looks with your colors, smiles etc., or you can choose submit reply.
Or if you don't want to go through all of this, you can simply go to the box at the bottom of a thread page, type your response there and then submit your reply.

2. The second way to post is a new topic, which means you just want to start a line of responses to something new. The first thing to do if you want to post a new topic, is make sure you are in the right forum... Always check the forum list, and post in the most appropriate one... If you can't find one where it fits, then post in the Totally off Topic forum. It is basically the same as posting a reply, except instead of clicking on post a reply you click on New Thread Then you do have to fill in a Subject, just something short and sweet that pertains to what you are posting. Then proceed just like above and submit your post.

Do you have to check back to see if someone replied to your post? You can do that, but here is an easier way for you to see if you have your e-mail notification on. http://www.babyuniversity.com/forum...q&page=3#notify

Avatars

If you have more than 500 posts, you may also specify your own custom avatar. Avatars have to be, Note: the maximum size of your custom image is 100 by 100 pixels or 35000 bytes (whichever is smaller).

Signatures

This is a piece of text that you would like to be inserted at the end of all your posts, a little like having headed note paper. Some Rules for you: NO ads unless pre approved by a Community Leader. NO images. If you are active member for 3 months (I put that in there, is that a good time frame?) You are allowed one link to your personal business site. Administration and Community Leaders have the right or ask you to remove links if inappropriate for any reason.

Quotes

There are two ways of adding quotes:

1. - If you like to quote someone from a post you can You can click on the little icon at the bottom right of the post -- there's a quote icon. It will automatically put all the tags in there.

2. – Just a Quote there is a quote button in the VB code box on the right hand side. When you reply to a post.
