HSG Test?

Has anyone has an Hysterosalpingography (HSG) test done? Any thoughts or suggestions? I supposed to schedule one right after the end of my next period, and I'm kinda wondering what to expect.

According to WebMD, they basically stick a tube through my cerix and shoot my uterus full of some sort of dye. In my case, they're looking for any abnormalities in the uterus that might be preventing an embryo from implanting properly.

Kim would probably know about it. Sounds painful.

I have had one done. It is not painful, at least mine wasn't. They ask that you take Tylenol or Advil one hour before you go so you won't feel so crappy if you should have cramping after. You will be asked to wear a pad afterwards (which they should provide) just to catch any dye that may drip out after the test. I was able to watch the entire thing while the Dr did it on the screen. It only takes about 5 minutes. It will also tell you if you have any blockages in your tubes which may be preventing an egg from getting through. Good luck and I hope all goes well. Keep us posted on your test and progress!

I had one done when I was going through infertility treatments. The only painful part was when they put the die in. It stings like a shot. I did have diarreah after words, but it's not to bad.

I had one and it hurt like HE!!. They told me to take some tylenol before hand but I recommend something stronger.

I also cramped and bled a good bit afterwards. It sounds like it is different for everyone. They also would not let me drive myself home afterwards. One of my former co-workers also had this test and it was very painful for her, too.

I was gonna have to have that done...my dr told me to come back in 3 months if I wasn't pregnant and we would start testing.

So I went back in 4 months pregnant. lol
