Things you didn't get to do as a kid

What things didn't you get to do as a kid that you plan on doing with your child?


In my case - everything!

My parents were so strict that we never even got to play video or acade games because they might send us straight to Satan. I can't believe I got to go to a Haunted House or Trick or Treat. I am definitely doing all the things with my dd that my cheap parents never did with me like getting the little toys out of the gumball machines and riding the mall rides.

Well, since it looks like DS is going to be tall, he WILL be able to ride the height-restricted rides! I never could until I was too old for them

I didn't get to do a lot of things as a kid because we were poor, but I don't really think about it. I just try to let my kids enjoy life and not focus on the negatives.

I never got to go to sleep away camp. Seems like one of those things I should've done. I think I'd like to send kids to camp.

good one! i never go to go to camp either... my mom was a sahm and i was always jealous of the kids that got to be kept busy all summer long while i was stuck staying home with mom.

I didn't go to amusement parks - maybe its one of the reasons I dont care to go on rides now.

Ooh and I got to go to sleep away camp - a definite must - it was sooo much fun - did it 2 or 3 years as a girl scout and in 6th grade we did a 3 day 2 night camping trip! A BLAST!

I went camping with Girl scouts but I never got to go to like a cabin type camp, with many people every year. Oh and my mom was always a chaperone for Girl scouts too.

I don't think I missed out on anything.. nor didn't get to do anything that I wanted.. but we didn't have money when I was a kid. So we didn't do a whole lot as a family.

We never went anywhere together. Never.. like the zoo, or amusement park, or anything.

So when my kids get a bit bigger, and hoping we'll have the money, we'll be able to do things like that together!

I guess it's different when your parents are just cheap. There was no money for carney games or mall rides, but we could drive 8 hours just to tour a feedlot (something my father loved) or drive two hours down a rock road to look at fossilized dinasour poop. My sister and I would get so mad about that. Spend an entire day in an unairconditioned car just to see some stupid cattle or dinasour poop - not even the bones - just the poop.

pool.........they had the one that was built for the house filled in b/c they feared drownings.
