No t.v. days

Does your family have occasional no t.v. days? We had one yesterday and it turned out great. Only turned the t.v. on twice - once to keep Elizabeth's attention while I took her temperature and once when the kids were in the pool and Billy was grilling and I was in the house resting. Was on for maybe a total of 30 minutes.

We did what we've heard is possible and spent a lot more quality time with our kids. Didn't realize how much time we do waste in front of the t.v., even though we do limit how much they are allowed to watch each day. We played games, read, played, danced and had a lot of fun. I look forward to our future no t.v. days!

Yes, I love no TV days. My dh is a TV addict though so it's hard when he's home to keep the tube off. The kids actually play more w/ each other and I get more done when the darn thing is off.

Glad you had a good day!! Are you gonna try for 2 days this week w/ no TV now??

No TV? I would go through withdrawl! Seriously, I have to have the background noise. We don't have a stereo. The kids never just sit and watch TV constantly, they are forever in and out of the room. We play outside a lot also.

Since Billy's the one home with them during the week, he's the one that has to decide if he wants no t.v. days during the week. If I were home, I'd shoot for 2 or more!

Like I said, we limit how much t.v. the kids can watch - no more than a few hours a day, normally. And maybe yesterday seemed so much different because they (and me and Billy) are use to those few hours a day being filled with certain shows so we had to find something to fill them. And we knew we couldn't fall back on t.v. when we wanted some time to ourselves or to do something like fix lunch. The kids played a lot by themselves, as they always do, and they played outside for awhile, as they usually do everyday, but it was amazing how different our time together seemed without t.v.

Not really. Sunday is just our busy family day. Somedays we all just cuddle on the floor or a couch and watch tv which is just as fun in my opinion and sometimes just so sweet to have a little munchkin lay their head on your shoulder. Some days we spend the whole day outside, some days we do half and half and some days we just aren't home.

The kids play well together and don't demand television. Of course they have their favorite shows but we limit what they watch especially when I noticed that we've slacked on the time limits for tv and the gameboy.
