I am wondering what you should tell your child, how and how much?

I think if they are old enough to understand & see it on tv - then yes. But if they are young and dont understand - then no.

Annie I have to answer this one again tomorrow when I am more awake.

When 9/11 happened Brittany was 3 1/2. She remembers it. I told her it was bad people that did that. She came home from Summer school on 7/7 and said that the people that flew the planes in the two building made bombs go off in london too.

I told her yes and that the government will find them and they will have to pay for what they did.

Trey is too young even though it is about the same age as Brittany. I am leaving him out of it.

It really depends on the children and how they can handle it. What I do not like is other adults talking about it around children and maybe this child's parents do not want them to know or they want to share it with them so they understand.

I'm not telling her anything. I think she is too young to understand. If she were 4 or 7 maybe I would, but not at 2.

I figure if Joey's able to ask questions about it, I will give him answers, in the simplest, non-judgemental terms available to me.

Oddly enough, Drew (almost 11) didn't ask any questions about it until he saw my new avatar (thank you, Dawn!). I explained to him that it was to show solidarity with England over the recent bombings there. Since he hadn't heard about it, I told him and explained their relation to 9/11 and the attacks here. His comment was he hopes they "catch those guys and they fry for it." Not exactly the comment I had hoped for, but I have to admit I agree with him.

Ally hasn't asked about it and I don't plan on telling her anything unless she does. She's only 4 and I don't think anything more than saying some bad people did some bad things is necessary. Quite honestly, I don't think she would really understand it.

If I am asked about it, I will try my best to explain it without scaring them. Brandon was only 1 month old at the time. So far we have been lucky. We don't watch news with them around.

my kids are too young to understand what is going on so I don't tell them about it!! When they get older and want to know about it then I will tell them about it!!
