What kind/brand would you buy and why?

Looks like we're gonna need a new one (I sold mine last year) and I want to start looking early. I'm thinking that this time, maybe I'd like a car seat/stroller combo??

We bought a Graco SnugRide for Kiera. I love it!

I had one of the combos and absolutely loved it

I had a combo with Austin and liked it..

Dylan we just bought a SnugRide and I LOVED it..

His next step up car seat we bought Evenflo Triumph 5 and it is AWESOME!!!

It goes from rear facing 5-30lbs and forward facing 30-40 pounds. I really like it. It's heavy, but it's very easy to adjust the starps in and is really comfy too! It's also easy to recline back if baby falls asleep.

Both my girls have the Cosco Summit car seats and we love them. It was kind of funny, we bought Sydney's with no intention of keeping it (it was $179 CDN), but we loved it sooooo much that there was no way we were taking it back. We bought Livia's off of eBay last December and saved almost $80 CDN, even after shipping.

Our last infant carrier was just a second-hand one, so I wasn't sad to see it go at our yard sale last year.

If you are thinkign about getting one of those stroller/car seat combos make sure that you can adjust the height of the strap. That was the problem we had withthe one for Liz and Nicholas. It was a stroller/carseat combo but you could only adjust the length of the strap, and not the height of it, so they outgrew it quite quickly.

i loved my car seat/stroller combo it was the best for lots of shopping for the first six months
mine was an evenflo and the straps were adjustable all over the place

If I could do it over, I'd get a Britax Companion with the anti-rebound bar at the foot. But they came out with those since Livia's been born, and she only used her SnugRide for 4 months, so I guess I still have to use that one.
It came with a base and we got a base at our shower for DH's car, and it fits into the stroller, too. Which the wheel fell off of when we went to the zoo a few weeks ago.
Anyway, the Graco SnugRide is a good one to get; to be super-safe, make sure it's got a 5-point harness. The strap adjusts in the front by the feet, so you can adjust it easy.

Holy mackeral I just noticed you are pregnant!! Congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How exciting!

The one in my car was GRACO that came with the mathcing stroller at the time, my husband had a different brand in his car I cant think of off of the top of my head, btu we had no complaints with either - they both fit into strollers and were easy in and out of the car, as well as to carry!

Hmnnn...I guess I'm in the minority about not LOVING travel systems. We have an Evenflo (5 pt harness) travel system. It was nice enough. We used it until ds was about 5 months when he was too tall. The stroller is nice enough and we still use it occasionally. We used it quite a bit with the infant carrier but once we didn't use the carrier I wasn't in love with the stroller. We moved ds into a Britax Marathon (pricey but well worth the $$ for the safety) and I bought a Chicco Tuscany umbrella for day to day travels--in and out of the car. I also have a Zooper 3 wheel stroller that we take if we're going to a fair, beach, park, picnic, etc. I think if I had it to do again (hopefully I will) that I'd get the Britax Companion with the rebound like a pp said and forgo a travel system. The Companion will fit most stroller anyway. The downside to a travel system is that you might not get the best of both worlds--great carseat AND great stroller. If you don't go with a travel system you will probably sacrifice $$ and convenience at least for the first few months.

I didn't love my travel system, either; it was just way too much for me. I do like the stroller that came with it, though.
