I think that statement is partially true - but also what "type" of time are we giving them? I think that time spent doing meaningful activites, conversations, etc. is the most valuable. I know some stay at home moms who spend a ton of time with their children but when I pop in they are just watching tv as their children play alone on the floor - on the other hand, I know working moms who value what time they do spend with their children and make sure to make that time meaningful. I definitely think that time is important - but it is quality not quantity that counts?

I agree with that statement somewhat. I don't know if the MOST important thing is the PARENTS time. I agree w/ Marissa. I work fulltime outside of the home (teacher). I think that time away from Zach is valuable to him in its own way. He stays with my parents which is a valuable thing for him (and them). I also think that examples of what we do with our time is good for him. Like no tv (Zach is 100% tv free), time spent in church, time spent as a family, family dinner--every night, etc.

I agree that the most important thing we can give our kids is time. As a SAHM, let me say that I NEVER get to watch tv during the day--I don't know how other moms who are home get the chance to, either. And while I don't spent 100% of my day playing with Emily, I do spent a lot of time with her. She has independent play time, but wrapped in that is the comfort of knowing that I am right here if she needs me. If I am on the computer, cleaning the bathroom, cooking lunch, doing laundry or whatever, and she needs me, I go to her or she comes to me. Nothing takes precedence over her needs, not even the laundry or other housework that I do. So yes, time is the most valuable gift. In the end, we have so little of it and it goes by so fast.
