I HATE this feeling

My in-laws will be visiting this weekend. Kale's birthday party is Sunday. And since it is early in the day .. they'll stay in town forever afterwards. They will want to come back to our house .. hate them being there and they will want to visit and personally I just don't want them there.

BUT .. I know they are going to come and I know that they are going to stay all afternoon. So I'm going to try to make the best of it. But I just hate this feeling beforehand! For DAYS before they visit I feel sick. I am ill and nervous ... I'm just not happy and I HATE feeling this way!!

How can I get over this feeling?

HEy Roxanna Sorry that things have not changed with your inlaws. I am not sure how you can make any of it any easier. Good luck

I understand. Mine were just here for 10 days and I was so uptight trying to get things perfect before they got here. then they did nothing but complain and gripe the entire time they were here. DH was working so I was there by myself with them at nights, which STUNK! I'd hear about the fights they'd had that day, and then I was expected to entertain them that evening. Ugh. I was so glad to see them go home.

Well, just focus on the fun part of the party and all. And try to stay real busy so you can avoid them while they're there.

Go buy a 2x4 and knock them out!

I know the feeling... and it BITES!!

Just think positive thoughts.... like their DEPARTURE!

Becca! Ok--try Becca's idea as a LAST resort...LOL

I'd just try to stay as busy as possible. I'm always so busy before, during and after the party that I don't enjoy anyone anyways!

busy sounds good.. get yourself some project that just HAS to be done before sunday evening and they can just enjoy their grandchildren and leave you alone!

And Stan informed me today that he has to work Sunday after the party!!!

Atleast he will not be home to witness the murder!!
Lucky you, no witnesses!!

Stay busy, that's all I can say.

I would come up with something that has to be done AWAY from the house directly after the party. That way you don't have to be near them. If all else fails, Becca idea certainly has merit!

I think I will HAVE to go to the store to finish something around 3ish .. that way they are only here for say an hour or two!!!

I mean, Stan and the kids will be with then ALL day Saturday for their family reunion ... how much more do they need to see the kids!!! UGH

Sorry you are feeling like that, makes me thankful my inlaws are so great!

First - I would KILL Dan if he stuck me with his family like that. Work or not.
Second - I get like that every time. At least for me, his family lives closer so they don't spend ALL weekend! They come... they leave!

I don't have any advice, since my In-Laws are good most of the time. I hope it goes well for you.

luckily my inlaws are in town so the visits are shorter and less frequent . Tell them u have to finish something at the store then ask them to keep the kids so u can and then by the time u get home they are ready to give them bk and they leave after all cake makes most kids hyper and grandparents dont like running after them hope it helps and then agian the 2x4 isnt sooo bad

Leave the kids with them! Seriously ... I don't leave the room, it is that bad!!

Don't you remember the "special" treat you planned for Kale as an after party surprise??? A party alone couldn't possibly be enough......and since it's a surprise for him he can't know about it(that way if you just want to run out to the store or a quick trip somewhere and come home he's not disappointed.)!
If I have people coming that I don't want to hang around I always make-up plans that I have to be somewhere(usually I take the kids to the park for an hour). I don't mind my inlaws, usually they want to leave as soon as they get here....my F-I-L is a hermit and doesn't like to be anywhere but home.
Hope it goes as quick and painless as possible.....hey, one other possibility....make an extra special piece of chocolate cake...just for them.....a nice dose of exlax should have them RUNNING out on you!!!

Heck have some drinks before they come and after to numb it. Just wishing you the best of luck.
