Sitting but no potty

My dd loves to sit on her potty, but unless I've rushed her over to it, she's never pottied in it. I take her to the potty every morning when she wakes up. I figure if she just once potties in her potty chair, she'll figure it out and want to do it more. She kind of vasilates between wanting to be a big girl and wanting to stay a baby though.

Nick did the same thing when I introduced the potty to him. He would sit on it, but never go in it. He would stay dry though...I think he was holding it.

I decided to try again next summer since he is only 22 months. Some kids take longer I guess.

Olivia is the same way. She'll sit there happily for about 20-25 minutes and then 2 minutes after the diaper is back on her, she pees. I swear this kid is going to be in diapers until she is 4!

Lenora, Have you tried letting her run around bare-bottomed? Or picking out special undies(Jesse has nemo and scooby-doo) and keeping her in them when your home. I know the accidents are a pain but maybe if she realizes it has no where to go but down her legs you will be able to convince her to put it in the potty! After Jess went nakkid for a week he started using his little potty, after two weeks and so much fun flushing the big toilet, he started to use the big one. The other morning I caught him on tip toes trying to stand up to pee....he was peeing straight up in the air!!! Just be thankfull you don't have that to worry about!
Jess is 100% day trained(started the bare-bottom thing in june) and as soon as the pull-ups are gone we will not be buying more.

Good luck....they all seem to have their own agenda....and it seems the more you want it the harder they try not to.

I need to get her some more diapers today. I will look for panties for her. How do you size them for such a small bottom?

In the baby section of walmart they have a couple packs that are like 2t/3t(should be with the training pants/clothe diapers/rubber pants), they should fit Kate. If they are a little loose it's ok because it make it easier to take up and down. Jess wears a 4t and they fit perfect. The bare-bottom thing works best till they get an idea of what is happening. They never feel it in a diaper, it absorbs so fast. I just let him go,I would have him sit on the potty about every half hour or so, and anytime I went. If he made a (wet)mess I just got some paper towel and had him help clean up, telling him" pee pee goes in the potty so we don't have to clean it up." When he went he got lots of clapping and cheers and we bragged to everyone...lol. When he messed up we just had him clean up(then i re-cleaned it), and made no big deal. I just acted like I didn't care if he went or not. I found out with Jake that the more I wanted him to do it the harder he faught it. when I stopped caring he decided it was a great thing. We also made a big deal out of having him flush and say good-bye....lol...I told Jess it was going to live with all of the other pee and poop family. I would only let Jess flush his own(he wanted to flush everybodies for them ) that way if he wanted to flush he had to make something to flush away! Good luck.....
