ID tags for kids

I know that Dawn brought this subject up a couple of weeks ago. And the more I think about it, the more I like it.
So... I just started searching online for different options.

I found this site:

http://www.makemethis.com/index.php/cPath/24

or this one:

http://www.kidsidbracelettags.com/index.html

I just looked through past posts. Did we ever come up with a "list" of what would be good info to have on the tag??

Obviously - name.
What else? Should you put the childs address? Or maybe just the phone number?

We've been teaching Kyler DH's cell phone number. I didn't want to confuse him with too many numbers. And I figured that if Kyler was ever lost - we'd be out looking for him. Not sitting home. OR if we were at a fair or something...
So... maybe put cell phone numbers on the id??

What do you think?

I've been thinking of name, parents' name and cell phone number??? I don't think you want too much information, but at the same time, enough to make sure they find you.

Dawn, are you leaning more towards the dog tags for the kids??
I'm trying to decide whether I should do the dog tags or the braclets.

I'm concerned that in an emergency the dog tags could either slip off there necks or even choke them.
Where the braclets would/should be on them until someone takes them off - right?

Then again, in an emergency, the dog tags would be alot easier to slip on over there heads.

What's your opinion?

I haven't decided. The dog tags are presumably on those breakaway chains like real ones are on, which will lessen the chances of them choking or anything. I'm afraid my kids will get the ID bracelets off, where I'm hoping that they'll put the dog tags under their shirt and forget about them.

I don't think I'd do the dog tags. I know the chains are supposed to break away but that isn't safe enough for me. I like the bracelet but also have seen a tag that clips to the laces on their shoes. Not great for emergencies but a good idea for a fair or a trip where yo know they will be wearing those shoes with laces.

parents names
cell numbers
birthdate
doctor's phone number and name
and CHURCH NAME if you go to one

My mom was just telling me this today. Many of the kids who are lost down south do not know their names and important info. They have found a lot of the kids families through their churches. The kids knew where they went to church and when the authorities contected the churches they were able to identify the kids.
