Aiden's birth story

I was being induced 4 days before my original induction date (18th of September) because my hind waters were leaking, but I wasn’t going into labor on my own.
The doctor checked my cervix at 8am and I was only 1cm so he inserted the gel and told me he would be back at 6pm to see how I was going.
20 minutes later my contractions started and they were 3 minutes apart and stayed that way till the doctor came back that evening to check me. I hadn’t had any pain meds because I was scared it would stall the labor.
He checked me and I was STILL only 1cm even though I had been contracting regularly for the 10 hours. He put in some more gel and said he’d be back in the morning.
My contractions continued at 3 minutes apart through the night so I had NO sleep at all.
8am came around and I was STILL only 1cm. More gel inserted and he said he’d be back at 12 midday to break my waters.
12 o’clock came and he check me and I was 2-3cm’s but I was so emotionally screwed from being in labour for 28 hours that when he tried to break my waters, and discovered my cervix had moved backwards and it was going to hurt bad, I howled, so he inserted MORE gel.
My contractions then went to 2 minutes apart. I was sucking on the nitrous like it was my best friend and going in and out of consciousness from exhaustion so, by 6pm the midwife started up the Syntonin, which is the same as Pitocin.
I was scared that the pain was going to get unbearable with the meds so I asked for an epidural thinking I wasn’t going to be bale to hack it any longer.
The midwife said I couldn’t have an epidural until I reached 4cm.
Fortunately, although the contractions went to 1 minute apart and much stronger, the pain had moved, so I actually had relief enough to really relax without any pain meds.
THEN, 8pm arrived and the doctor came in. I had a really bad feeling that SOMETHING was about to happen. I got soooo nervous.
He checked me and I was 4cm and he broke my waters.
I asked for an epidural but had Aiden 10-15 minutes later at 8:21pm weighing 6Ibs 11oz’s. I had been in labor for 32 hours but the doctor claims I was only in labor for 15 minutes. He thinks that the rest of the time as just pre-labour.

That sucks that you only got the gel stuff. The Pitocin worked great for me! I never made it to 10 cm. I have no idea how Isaiah made it out with me being only 9 cm!!!

I'm really happy for you though. How is being a mommy to your new little boy treating you???

OMG that is a long labor!!!! I never know when to technically start the labor counting, with Ryan I know when I went to the hospital with contractions that was when I started counting it, but the dr's didnt start counting until my water broke...

So tell me how was the pitocin and everything??? I will prob be induced next week - I am guessing if you did it all without pain meds - it was exhausting and painful!!! So you also never got the epidural and had him 15 minutes later?? Thats great you didnt end up with the epidural!!

He is beautiful!

I didn't get the pitocin till 2 hours before he was born and it actually made the contractions move to another spot, so I was in less pain. Once I had my waters broken, I became chicken and asked for an epidural I knew there wouldn't be time. I had him 10 minutes later.

I was induced with Skye and had the pitocin 5 hours before she was born and it was more painful than natural labor, but it was faster.
Good luck for next week.
