Used you as an excuse

Has your dh ever used you as an excuse to his family? Have you ever done that to him with yours?

He did yesterday. I was a little annoyed because he said I felt a way I didn't, but I realized he felt that way, but thought his family would give him crap about it. If that made any sense. He said I hated the van (which I do), couldn't stand the sight of it (which I don't, that's how he feels) and wanted rid of it (which is how he feels. I want rid of it after we have a better family vehicle, but not before.) I understand, but it was a little annoying.

I've done that to him too.

My husband does it all of the time and most of it is with my permission. His parents are buttheads that abused him. Sometimes he just doesn't feel strong enough to tell them that he can't deal with them so he will use me for an excuse. I have told him that if he ever needs me to stand up to those idiots or needs to use me as an excuse, that he is totally free to do so because I really don't care how they feel about me. In this instance, I want him protected because he has had to endure enough from them.

I don't use him as an excuse because I can be honest with my parents and they are very understanding and supportive.

especially if it is something we really dont want to do. Usually it is that Rich has to work overtime.

I know I've used him for an excuse. I'll say oh Mike's working so we're not coming or something. I dunno if he's used me or not. I see Karen a lot so she usually knows what's going on

Great question Lenora. Yes for both of us.

hmmm - Kev uses me alot but not so much with family - more with other obligations he has and doesnt want to do - he always says the wife wont let me

I cant quite remember using him as an excuse - but we've been together 10 + years so I am sure I have done it.

Yup I have and I know he has. For some reason it is easier to say oh Wendy already made plans instead of saying, nah, I don't really want to do that today.
